Can I run with a dog/stroller/etc.?

Yes! You are welcome to bring your leashed (and friendly) dog, a child in a stroller, or anything like that. We ask that you stay back to approximately the mid-point of the starting crowd, so that unencumbered runners can get out of the gate first.

If I want to run in multiple events, do I have to sign up and pay for them all?

We ask that you sign up for the 5K if you intend to run that race, as it requires us to assign you a timing chip, which is not possible to do on race day. You may then also run the 1K or 1-mile without signing up multiple times (say, if you’re escorting your child). You could also decide on race day to just run the shorter distance.

The reverse is not possible. We ask that you please do not sign up for the 1K or 1-mile distance and then run the 5K instead.

How do I get my bib and t-shirt?

Packet pick-up takes place on the Friday before the race from 1:50pm (the end of the school day) until 6:30pm. You can also pick up your packet the hour before the race begins. Pick-up is in the UPES gymnasium. Details will be emailed to all race participants the week of the race and can also be found under Event Details on this webpage.

What if I don’t want to race and just want a shirt? Must I still attend packet pick-up?

Email upesazaleaclassic5K@gmail.com and we can arrange pick-up. Shirts cannot be mailed —apologies in advance for the inconvenience.

What if there is bad weather?

The event is rain or shine. Please dress for the weather.

Where should I park?

We encourage everyone to arrive on foot if possible. Parking is not permitted along the race course. Other streets are open to parking, but please respect neighbors by not blocking driveways or rights of way. Some possible areas to park include:

  1. 4300 Block Underwood St

  2. 6500-6600 Block of 44th Ave

  3. 4200 Block of Tuckerman St

  4. On 41st Ave and Queens Chapel Rd
